MARRIAGES BY AGE OF BRIDE AND GROOM

- There were 432 marriages where either the bride or groom was under 20 years of age. These teen marriages accounted for one out of 50 marriages (2.0% of all marriages) in 2002. There were only 62 marriages where both the bride and groom were teenagers.
- There were 1,039 marriages where either the bride or groom was 60 years of age or older. These marriages to people aged 60 or older accounted about one in 20 marriages (4.9% of all marriages) in 2002. There were 470 marriages where both the bride and groom were aged 60 or older.
- Out of every 100 brides, approximately:
- 2 were aged 15-19 (383)
- 48 were aged 20-29 (10,113)
- 30 were aged 30-39 (6,445)
- 12 were aged 40-49 (2,632)
- 5 were aged 50-59 (1,145)
- 3 were aged 60 or older (527).
- Out of every 100 grooms, approximately:
- 1 was aged 15-19 (111)
- 38 were aged 20-29 (7,999)
- 35 were aged 30-39 (7,381)
- 15 were aged 40-49 (3,097)
- 8 were aged 50-59 (1,675)
- 5 were aged 60 or older (982).
- Comparing the age groups of the bride and groom, out of every 100 marriages in 2002, approximately:
- 45 marriages involved grooms who were older than their brides (9,558)
- 42 marriages involved brides and grooms in the same age group (8,983)
- 13 marriages involved brides who were older than their grooms (2,704).
