- A total of 21,245 marriages were solemnized in the province in 2002.
- In 2002, 60.7% of couples were marrying for the first time (12,902). In 20.0% of the marriages it was the first marriage for only one of the parties (4,259), and 19.2% involved couples where both partners were previously divorced or widowed (4,083).
- Out of every 100 marriages in 2002, approximately:
- 71 involved single brides (15,143)
- 3 involved widowed brides (649)
- 26 involved divorced brides (5,452)
- Out of every 100 marriages in 2002, approximately:
- 70 involved single grooms (14,920)
- 3 involved widowed grooms (667)
- 27 involved divorced grooms (5,657)
