  • There were 1,818 alcohol-related deaths in 2002.

  • Out of every 100 alcohol-related deaths in 2002 approximately:
    • 76 were males (1,388)
    • 24 were females (430)

  • About one half (47.3%) of all alcohol-related deaths were seniors (748 deaths aged 65-84 and 113 aged 85+) and a third (37.6%) were aged 45-64 (683 deaths).

  • The proportions of alcohol-related deaths by age groups were similar for males and females.
