  • Of the 396 suicide deaths in the province in 2002, just over three quarters (77.3) were male (306).

  • The distribution of suicide deaths by month varies from year to year. In 2002, February had 42 suicides, January had 40 and July had 39 suicides. September had the least (22) total suicides, followed by October with 25 and December with 27.

  • Male deaths from suicide were highest also in February (37), and January, April and July with 28 deaths, and lowest in September with 18 and October with 21. Female suicide deaths were highest in January with 12 deaths, and lowest in December with 1 death.
