  • Of vital events in the province, only marriages show a marked seasonal distribution. In 2002, the most popular month to marry was August, with more than a fifth (21.2%) of the year's total marriages, and the majority of marriages (57.8%) occurred in the summer (June to September). January was the least popular month for marriages in 2002.

  • Live births were fairly evenly distributed over the twelve months in 2002, although the winter months (November, December, January, and February) had the lowest numbers. May and September had the largest number of live births.

  • The highest number of deaths in 2002 occurred in March and the lowest numbers occurred in June.

  • In 2002, the largest number of stillbirths occurred in September.
