  • The lung cancer death rate of 4.97 per 10,000 standard population is the lowest for males since at least 1986.

  • The female rate has fluctuated around 3.4 per 10,000 for the last 10 years.

HIGHLIGHTS TO FIGURE 6.9
  • There were 1,116 deaths from endocrine, nutritional and metabolic disorders in BC in 2002. This was an increase of 110 from the 1,006 in 2001. The ASMR for endocrine, nutritional and metabolic disease rose from 1.96 per 10,000 to 2.13 per 10,000.

  • Endocrine, nutritional and metabolic disease rates are on a statistically significant upward trend.
