Note: SMR-Standardized Mortality Ratio. Refer to Figure 1 to clarify geographical location of Local Health Areas.
- In 2000, there were five Local Health Areas (LHAs) with statistically significant and high Standardized Mortality Ratios (SMR) for drug-induced deaths. These five LHAs and their SMRs for drug-induced deaths in 2000 (number of drug-induced deaths in parentheses) were:
| 162 |
Vancouver Downtown E. Side |

- Vancouver Downtown E. Side, New Westminster, and Greater Victoria had statistically significant and high SMRs in the five-year period from 1995 to 1999.
- In 2000, 32 LHAs had no drug-induced deaths and there were no LHAs with statistically significant and low SMRs (based on five or more deaths).
- There were six LHAs with statistically significant and high SMRs in the 1995-1999 period. The SMRs for these LHAs (number of drug-induced deaths in parentheses) were:

- In the 1995-1999 period, 16 LHAs had statistically significant and low SMRs (based on five or more drug-related deaths). The five LHAs with the lowest SMRs (number of drug-induced deaths in parentheses) were:

- Four LHAs had no drug-induced deaths in the 1995-1999 period. These were Fernie, Golden, Snow Country and Stikine/Telegraph Creek. They also had no drug-induced deaths in 2000.
