- The provincial low birth weight (LBW) (less than 2,500 grams) live birth rate for 1999 was 47.46 per 1,000 live births, which was lower than the 1994-1998 LBW rate (51.39).
- The Local Health Areas (LHAs) with the highest LBW rates (based on at least 5 cases) in 1999 (number of births in parentheses) were:
