  What Fees May A Marriage Commissioner Charge For Their Services

Fees charged to the public for the performance of a civil marriage are prescribed under the Marriage Act Fees Regulation of British Columbia.

Private marriage commissioners are required to collect the following fees for solemnizing a marriage;

Civil Marriage Ceremony$75.00
Federal Goods and Service Tax $3.75

Private Marriage Commissioners retain $50 of the $75 Civil Ceremony fee as a commission for providing this service.

Private Marriage Commissioners may levy fees for the following services. Rates provided are the maximum as recommended by the British Columbia Vital Statistics Agency:

Ferry feesat cost
Parking feesat cost
Rehearsals (optional) $25.00
Travel (to and from the marriage ceremony and rehearsals - if applicable) $0.50/km
