How To Order A Death Certificate

Any person can apply for a death certificate.

Only an immediate family member can apply for a genealogy certificate upon proof of death and proof of relationship to the deceased person. This includes individuals such as a spouse, mother, father, brother, sister, grandfather, grandchildren and grandmother.

You can make application for a death certificate:

To order certified photocopies of registration documents or genealogy documents, application must be made in person or by mail as often additional supporting documentation is required.

Please note that effective February 12, 2007, the Vital Statistics Agency has implemented centralized printing of all certificates out of the Victoria office. All certificates will be mailed or couriered to clients direct from Victoria.

Death Certificate

Contains the individual’s full name, gender, date of death, place of death, place of birth, resident province, state or country, registration number, and date of registration. The large certificate is 21.6 x 17.8 cm.
