To commemorate special birth or marriage events that have taken place in the Province of British Columbia, the Vital Statistics Agency has made available a certificate of frameable quality for purchase by you or your family.

Special Event Certificate - Birth

Eligible Applicant:

• The person named in the birth event
• The mother of the person named in the birth event
• The father of the person named in the birth event (if named on the birth registration)
• The person with custody of the person named in the birth event (proof of court recognized legal custody must be provided)
• Spouse of person named in the birth event
• A relative of the person named in the birth event
  Note: Relative is defined as: son, daughter, sister, brother, grandparent, grandchild.

Special Event Certificate - Marriage

• Either party to the marriage
• The mother of either party
• The father of either party
• A relative of either party
  Note: Relative is defined as: son, daughter, sister, brother, grandparent, grandchild.
